There are so many ways to support our mission, and you are part of the solution.

First Steps / A painting by David Shouse MitchellVictims of domestic violence typically arrive at downtown Louisville or Southern Indiana shelter with only the clothes on their backs and maybe a bag of their most precious possessions. Our average client brings two children with her and will stay with us from two months to over a year.

The Center for Women and Families Adopt-a-Room project is a unique way for you, your family or your community organization to support women and children surviving domestic violence. By adopting a room at one of The Center’s shelter facilities, you will be helping to create a safe and comfortable harbor for families in need.

Adopt-a-Room donations help us to provide our residents with those everyday items that so many of us take for granted–like towels, sheets, pillows and other essential daily living items. Donations of $2,000 adopt a two bed/one-bedroom for one year. Donations of $3,500 adopt a four bed/two-bedroom for one year. The Center will display a plaque naming the room in honor of you or your organization for one year from the receipt of your donation. After one year passes, you or your organization will be given the opportunity to renew your room adoption.
